Fact vs. Fiction: Healthy Hair Myths
MYTH: Switch up your shampoo & conditioner. Your hair can become immune to your shampoo & conditioner
FACT: This is true, you should switch it up! The ingredients in shampoos differ, and if you use one shampoo over a period of time, the ingredients can build up on the hair and reduce the products effectivness. So...have fun and play around with the shampoos and conditioners you choose! There are so many to pick from!
MYTH: Stress makes your hair fall out
FACT: There are tons and tons of studies on this topic, however yes, stress and hair loss can be related. With tremendous stress in your life, you may notice your hair may take longer to grow or more strands are being lost than normal. This is a result of your hair going into a 'resting' phase and some of these affected hairs may just suddenly fall out. If you are witnessing these symptoms, talk to your doctor on how you can relieve your stress.
MYTH: Frequently trimming your long hair will help make your hair grow even longer, faster
FACT: This is actually false! Hair may grow slightly faster in the summer, but this has nothing to do with trimming your hair, it has everything to do with your hormones. Do trim your hair often though, this will eliminate split ends and will in fact make your hair look healthier.
MYTH: Rinsing your hair with ice-cold water will get you shiny hair
FACT: Do yourself a favor and don't freeze yourself with a cold shot at the end of your shower. A douse of cold water has no effect on creating more shine for your locks.
MYTH: Brush your hair, 100 strokes a day
FACT: No matter what your grandma told you, brushing your hair 100 strokes a day will kill your hair and it's follicles. Brush it as you normally do, get the knots out, style your hair as you wish, and put the brush down.
Giorgio Armani Goes GaGa
Giorgio Armani is busy creating new looks for Lady GaGa for her new upcoming tour starting April 27th. The Italian designer said, “Collaborating with Lady Gaga is always an exciting experience for me,” said Armani, who has dressed the singer on numerous occasions, including the Grammy awards in 2010. “I admire the way she uses fashion as a scenic element and as a means to build a character. She is an artist of many talents and great intelligence.”
The pieces will no doubt be eccentric and over the top, what would a Lady GaGa show be without it? Pieces of the collection for the upcoming tour include gloves with mirrored nails, a black bodice with transparent Plexiglas, and lots of black crystals, studs and Swarvoski. We can't forget to mention the spikes, thigh high boots and latex, and one of the most talked about sketch is an over the top costume that includes an abstract composition of guitars and a...keyboard headpiece? Sounds like Lady GaGa!

“We are excited to work with INDASHIO on our newest nail paint. His innovative creations push the limits of menswear design and has inspired us to reinterpret traditional black nail polish, both in texture and finish, making it more relevant to the modern man looking to make a statement,” says EVOLUTIONMAN founder Marco Berardini. "I am so excited about this new collaboration! The color is cool, sleek, and its matte masculine finish is super rockstar! I am looking forward to starting a trend with guys wearing nail polish,” added INDASHIO
That's all great and well, we hope to see a new trend start with this too, but just one thing we couldn't help but notice. Does this look like a man hand to you?

Olympic Contenders Model For CoverGirl
Covergirl needed strong, sexy, and feminine women for an upcoming campaign. They looked for models where no one has before, they chose two Olympic contenders to fill the spot.
New CG faces will be volleyball player Jennifer Kessey and boxer Marlen Esperza, who will both be competing in the 2012 London Olympics this summer.
"We are athletes and in turn we are the everyday women," Kessy told People magazine. "CoverGirl is celebrating the fact that beauty and feminity can come in so many forms. To be able to convey this to girls and women is a very good feeling."
We wouldn't go that far in saying these athletes represent the everyday woman, but we do love the fact that a big brand like Covergirl is celebrating beauty and feminity in a whole other way than society is used to.
Do you think more companies should follow in the footsteps of Covergirl? There is more to beauty than perfect eyebrows and a skinny model figure, right? What are your thoughts?
How To: Nina Ricci Paris FW 2012 Fashion Week Beauty
At Nina Ricci's Fall/Winter 2012 fashion show, hair was pulled to one side with a deep side part and locks were let down with loose, long waves. The hair was minimal since the makeup was packed with punch. With neutral eyes and a natural matte look on the face, this allowed for a deep, dark red lip look to make a statement without being overpowered by anything else. Read on to see how you can get this look:

Get the Hair:
- Spray a sea salt spray in damp hair for a wavy, beachy hair texture
- Create a deep left messy side part
- Rough blowdry hair until 100% dry
- Finish the look by tucking hair behind the left ear. On the right side, also tuck your hair behind your ear but pull forward at least 1 inch side section over the ear. Secure with bobby pin.
Get the Beauty Look:
- Apply a moisturizer if skin is dry
- Sweep a powder foundation over entire face -- do not use any blush
- Dap a small amount of vaseline and sweep across eye lids
- With a blending brush, blend a neutral, light brown shadow in the crease
- Line the outer bottom lashline with the same powder shadow
- Curl lashes and apply mascara
- Now for the lips, take a deep red lip liner and fully line the entire lip. Be sure you exfoliate your lips before doing so.
- Next, apply the red lipstick
Nicki Minaj Signs Fragrance Deal
We knew it! A little less than a month a go, rumors were going back and forth about Nicki Minaj talking about doing a fashion label and fragrance deal. Well guess what?! This morning, it has been confirmed that Nicki Minaj is in fact going through with her fragrance deal!
The hip hop rapper has signed a fragrance deal with Give Back Brands LLC to produce and launch her debut scent, which will be available in department stores this fall. Give Back Brands worked with Justin Bieber's Someday fragrance as it's first celebrity project, Someday was ranked as No. 1 women's launch of the year. Let's see if Nicki Minaj has the same fate.
"I have always been a huge fan of great fragrances," Minaj stated. "This is yet another extension of my creative expression. I designed the scent and bottle with my Barnz in mind."
Tommy Eau De Prep cologne by Tommy Hilfiger
Design House: Tommy Hilfiger
Year Introduced: 2011
Fragrance Notes: grapefruit, clary sage, a splash of tonic water, and suede
You may have heard of eau de toilette or even an eau de parfum, but I bet you have never heard of an eau de prep. Cute but a tad corny with the name, Tommy Hilfiger's Tommy Eau De Prep cologne is a, well, preppy eau de toilette spray for men.
With a classic look and preppy feel, I've never seen a Tommy Hilfiger cologne look so fresh. With notes of grapefruit, sage, tonic water and suede, this scent is fresh, classic, a bit sporty, and fresh.
A fun fragrance I can see a laid back young man wearing; someone who plans to head to a football game on the weekend or plans to sail his yacht with friends...all while wearing a popped collar shirt. Check out the video ad campaign for more fun!
