There's no better time to start over than in January, right? It's the month of resolutions -- some broken, others kept. Sometimes we set lofty goals for ourselves, and eventually crack under the pressure of carrying them out. Resolutions often become nothing more than whims that may last a few days to a few weeks.
Instead of "starting over," why not pick one small thing to change? It's easier to take small steps to reach a goal than to try to go for the whole gusto! The same goes for your beauty makeover.
That said, maybe one of your goals for 2011 is to shake up your beauty regimen or give yourself a total makeover. Before you throw out all your current makeup products and buy all new stuff or consult a plastic surgeon, why don't you take small steps to updating your look.
1. Don't cut it all off! Maybe going for a short hairstyle rather than your same-old long hair is a goal of yours. Before you plop yourself into the salon chair and give the go on whacking it all off, consider transitioning to a shorter hair style in stages. Go shoulder length if your hair is longer than that. See if you like it. Once you've decided if the new length is good for you, try it a little shorter than that.
2. Use your resources. If a makeover is in order, head to a local makeup counter and let the beauty experts there give you a free makeover. Don't feel pressured to buy every product they use on you, either. Examine the areas you really like, say the eyes, and buy those products. Ask them to show you their technique so you can apply it at home. That's the key; knowing how to recreate the look in your own mirror.
3. Accessorize. Maybe you've been wearing the same necklace for years, or the same earrings. Sometimes adding a new sparkle is all it takes to change your look. So before you run to the plastic surgeon to get that chin tuck, why not try a nice piece of jewelry or a new stylish scarf and watch how it can totally direct the eye.
